Just add awesome steam..

Discovering new places, new adventures and having fun is always a priority for me with my girls. I might not have given them the "perfect" life. But I will make damn sure that they have a life to look back on that is filled with love, caring, smiles, and fun. So in the spirit of trying everything once, and then going back the next Sunday for more.. Our last weekend.

We discovered this little gem in Centurion. Centurion Society Of Model Engineers. And what a wonderful little place on earth this is. I grew up driving the little steam train around Fountains. But lately all the "trains" we find just didn't compare.

To quote the one "oom": "I can not imagine anyone retiring without a model train or boat".

When we arrived there, all you saw was little steam trains going round. People waiting on the little platforms. As the day progressed more and more little steam trains came out of the workshop at the back (where you can watch them work on their trains). Some kept testing, which meant they went around on their own locomotives. Such a sweet picture. These guys just driving their trains, stopping to fiddle with something. All hands stained with coal and smiles.

We went around 10 times. On 6 different trains. R200 for a 5 hours of pure fun. And you can pack your own picnic and walk around. This was in one word: awesome. And we are going back.

The ticket collector. A sweet character. I can imagine him working at a real train station with tickets in his hat.
Rounding the first bend. Over the first small bridge and the river.
Yelling Whoooohoo going through the tunnel.
Amazement and pure joy.
I use the word awesome a lot. But this is it. Awesome.
A new train pulling up.
We walked all along with tracks.
Fun. With some steam as a added bonus.
